This year’s fruit-forward Summer Blend supports bird conservation in two ways: at origin, and here in Tasmania!
The Bolivian Asociación de Productores de Café Ecológico Regional Larecaja (APCERL) are certified Bird Friendly producers, who intentionally cultivate coffee under shade-grown systems that protect habitats for native bird species and support biodiversity within Madidi National Park, home to 238 bird species. Their efforts have seen them awarded with the Bird Friendly certification by the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute.
In the spirit of our love for the Tasmanian Wilderness and the critically endangered Orange Bellied Parrot, we've partnered with Wilcare Tasmania to donate 10% of all Summer Blend sales to the Tasmanian Nature Conservation Fund — a cause that beautifully mirrors the conservation values upheld by the Bolivian farmers. These brightly coloured birds, featured on the bag's label, return to Melaleuca in south-west Tasmania to breed every summer.
