Villino was established in 2007 and quickly became a key influencer of the specialty coffee scene in Tasmania.
After opening the Villino cafe it was a natural progression to want more control over our coffee. This meant opening our coffee roastery in 2009 with a 5kg Probat coffee roaster and a couple bags of beans. We quickly built a great following in Hobart and our wholesale business took off. Our 5kg Probat remains part of the lineup, but it now sits alongside it's bigger 12kg and UG22 siblings.
In 2012 we also welcomed Villino’s little sister cafe, Ecru Coffee, to the family. 20 metres down from the main cafe in Criterion St, it's a small hole-in-wall outlet, serving take away coffee to those on the move.
Villino is one of the longest-running and largest coffee roasters & wholesalers in Tasmania. We never stop chasing the next step in quality and as a business we have always invested a lot in experimentation and research to unlock more potential in our coffees. We are also going to claim that circulating Tasmanian air (some of the cleanest in the world) through our roasters makes the coffee taste better!
We roast fresh daily just north of the CBD on our Probat Roasters to supply our network of wonderful wholesale customers locally and interstate. All our coffees are carefully selected through extensive cupping and quality control and we are continually evolving our roast philosophies to ensure we are getting the most out of each and every batch.
