Thageini is one of the four mills operated by the Aguthi Famers Cooperative Society, a progressive group employing a large number of men and women to produce some of the finest Kenyan coffees. They regularly hold meetings to share emerging best practices and learn from one another so that the community continues to excel. We love tasting the range of coffees that Thageini bring to the table each year.
This lot is fermented as whole cherries in sealed containers, which are flushed with CO2 and left for eight days, before being pulped and fully washed. The beans are then laid out in thin layers on raised beds, and turned regularly to maximise clarity, florals and acidity. This is a flavour bomb of a coffee, delivering intense blackcurrant and bright fresh fruit notes with a silky finish.
