Gil César de Melo’s involvement in the coffee industry is rooted in family tradition, beginning with his grandfather, a coffee producer in Campos Altos. This legacy was passed down to Gil’s mother, who later inspired her son to carry forward the family’s passion for coffee a path he embraced wholeheartedly. In 1995, Gil planted his first six hectares of coffee, marking the beginning of a journey defined by continuous growth and a commitment to quality.

His farms are located in the privileged region of Campos Altos, within Cerrado Mineiro, an area distinguished by its mountainous topography and elevated altitude, ideal conditions for cultivating specialty coffee with exceptional aroma and flavor. Environmental responsibility is central to Gil’s values. He is dedicated to preserving the natural forest areas surrounding his farms and actively encourages his team to respect and protect the local ecosystem.

At Fazenda Espigão, every stage of coffee production is approached with meticulous care, from cultivation and harvesting to processing and post harvest lot preparation. This rigorous focus on quality has yielded outstanding results, most notably a 12th place finish at the 2018 Cup of Excellence in Brazil. We are proud to share this remarkable coffee with the local market.
