Not all pods are created equal.
When selecting coffee for our first release of coffee pods, we went down the rabbit hole and explored a range of different roast levels, origins and blends. After much taste-testing we landed on our ever-popular Mexico Finca Kassandra, which is already a coffee of choice for many of you at home.
Coffee pods only contain a small amount of coffee (~5g), and a lot of pods out there create the perception of strength by roasting the coffee very dark. This is something we wanted to avoid, so we’ve selected a highly soluble coffee and stayed within roasting parameters that don’t compromise our values.
The result is a coffee that is clean and easy drinking but still carries enough punch to work through milk, and it won’t taste at all like melted rubber or ash.
Our pods are 100% Biodegradable & Compostable, made entirely from sugarcane and sugar beet. This means that the complete capsule, including the foil, is made from plant materials. These pods are certified compostable to Australian standards (certification AS 4376-2006), meaning they are accepted by most commercial composting facilities. If you're in Hobart, this means you can put them in your council green bin, hurrah! If you're elsewhere, it's best to check with your local council first.

Best Brewing Tips:
Warm up your machine by running a couple of shots of hot water through before brewing one of our delicious pods. Not only will this clean out any residual coffee grinds but will heat up the internals of the machine for optimal brewing.
Villino Pods taste best at 20-30ml yield per pod. This should be one press of the ‘short shot’ button on your pod machine.
Most pod machines have programmable buttons. Simply press and hold down one of the buttons while brewing and releasing button to stop and save that brew setting. (If your machine work differently, refer to your machines user manual).
