Built in 2010, the Chelelektu washing station processes up to 950,000kg of coffee cherries each year, from 363 contributing small farms. Only cherries at peak ripeness are picked, with farmers selectively harvesting and rotating between trees every eight to ten days. The hand-picked coffee is then laid out on raised beds and dried in the sun for 21 days.
